Tired Swann has plans for Sehwag

ENGLAND spinner Graeme Swann admits he’s been slow to adjust to the challenges touring India presents following a hectic few weeks.

The 31-year-old celebrated the birth of his first child last week, but 48 hours after his new arrival he was jetting off to the subcontinent to spearhead England’s World Cup challenge. “The change of climate and temperature really does hit you hard,” he said. “After 20 overs [against Holland] I looked up at the board desperate for it to be 45 overs gone because I was cooked.”

Tuesday’s jittery six-wicket win over Holland was not the best way to prepare for the co-hosts and their in-form opener Virender Sehwag on Sunday.

Swann said: “We’ve got our gameplans and we know how we’re going to bowl at him. We’ll just have to get him out in the first few overs, and there’s no problem.”

Ponting warned
AUSTRALIA captain Ricky Ponting has been warned after damaging a television in the dressing room. Ponting was run out against Zimbabwe on Monday and subsequently accepted the Level 1 charge, which may see him lose 50 per cent of his match fee. ICC ref Roshan Mahanama said: “Ricky knows his action was in breach of the code.”
