Yani Tseng won the women’s British Open yesterday to claim her fifth Major title at the age of 22. The world No1 from Taiwan shot 69 in the final round at Carnoustie to finish 16 under par, four strokes ahead of Brittany Lang.

Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson dismissed further speculation about any approach by the club to sign Dutch international Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan. “Absolute nonsense. I have never discussed him. There is nothing new,” he said. Ferguson was speaking after watching his side defeat European champions Barcelona 2–1 in Washington.
