Association of British Insurers
The ABI has appointed Kerrie Kelly, currently chief executive of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), as its new director general, effective from next February.

Kelly has led the ICA since 2006, having formerly been CEO of the country’s Financial Planning Association. She is currently a non-executive director at HSBC in Australia, the Financial Literacy Advisory Board and the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Alliance Trust
The investment firm has hired Alan Trotter as its new finance director, effective from early 2010.

Trotter is currently group corporate development director at insurer Legal & General, where he is also responsible for the UK central finance function.

Before joining L&G, he held senior financial roles with a number of Scottish financial services institutions, having originally qualified as an accountant with Ernst & Young in 1993.

Coutts
The private bank has appointed Robert Edwards as a senior banker in its Monaco office.

Edwards will be responsible for advising the bank’s clients in the principality, with a particular focus on the central and eastern European market.

He has over 13 years of experience in the sector, having joined from Compagnie Monegasque de Banque in Monaco, where he was also a senior private banker. He has also worked for Britannia International in the Isle of Man and in a variety of roles at Barclays.
