Climate change activists Extinction Rebellion begin fourth day of protest with demonstration in Parliament Square

Climate change protest group Extinction Rebellion has launched a fourth day of action in London today by staging a demonstration in Parliament Square.

The group, which brought the capital to a halt last Saturday, is protesting what it describes as a lack of action by the government on global warming.

“We refuse to bequeath a dying planet to future generations by failing to act now,” the demonstrators posted on Twitter today.

Buses serving Parliament Square and the surrounding areas are subject to delays and diversions due to the demonstration.

Yesterday a small number of activists blocked traffic in West Cromwell Road, Elephant and Castle, Victoria Street and Tower Hill, before heading to a packed Oxford Street as shoppers searched for Black Friday bargains.

A total of 45 protestors were arrested for obstructing roads last week after blocking several major bridges across London, causing chaos for commuters.
