Wounded India sure to come out fighting, warns Anderson
ENGLAND fast bowler James Anderson insists his side are primed for and Indian backlash at Edgbaston this week.
The tour-ending ankle injury suffered by the leader of India’s attack Zaheer Khan, has further hampered the tourists’chances of getting back into a series they trail 2-0 having been comprehensively outplayed.
Anderson (right) accepts Khan’s unavailability represents a further boost to England’s hopes of leapfrogging India and taking their world No1 Test ranking, but isn’t taking anything for granted.
“It will be a big loss, Zaheer’s the leader of their attack, he’s such a skilful bowler, especially in English conditions – he always bowls well here.
“It is a big loss for them but we can’t get carried away with one individual going home because they’ve got strength in depth.
India must win at least one of the remaining two Tests if they are to retain the title of the world’s top ranked side, a position they have held since December 2009.
With that in mind, Anderson expects MS Dhoni’s side to adopt an all out attack policy which would make them an extremely dangerous opponent.
He said: “We know they are going to come hard at us and we’ve got to try and match that. It’s their No1 spot that they are defending so they have got a lot to play for.”
