Where to eat out this Father’s Day

PROMISED you’d see Dad on Sunday but not sure what to do with the old man? Fear not: many of London’s best dining establishments have Father’s Day deals on offer so the two of you can have a good catch up over a great meal. Michelin-starred favourite Arbutus (63 Frith Street) will be offering an astonishingly good value three-course set lunch for £16.95. The menu is entirely determined by seasonality so changes constantly but expect the likes of Andalusian gazpacho, Elwy Valley lamb and vanilla pannacotta. Or for something more robustly French, head to Mayfair for Arbutus’s equally excellent sister restaurant Wild Honey (12 St George Street), where there’s three delicious courses for £25.50.

Go south-west for a £26 three-course lunch at Rowley Leigh’s brilliant Café Anglais (8 Porchester Gardens) – an added bonus, if you like this kind of thing, will be the magician in situ on the day. At Richard Corrigan’s brilliant flagship Corrigan’s Mayfair (who else could make fried pig’s trotter salad a best-seller?), there’s a welcome offer of £27 for a three course Sunday lunch. Think shellfish bisque with cognac cream followed by roast rib eye and prune and almond bake.

For something different, and a little spicier, Chutney Mary (535 King’s Road), one of London’s most iconic Indian restaurants, is breaking from the norm by offering three courses from the a la carte menu for £22. You’ll probably never have a kebab this good ever again.

If you’re not after simply eating, but fancy doing as well, take Dad along for a Beefeater 24 cocktail masterclass with mixology’s most creative brain Tony Conigliaro, at his increasingly famous Islington bar 69 Colebrooke Row (of the same address). For £125 per head, you’ll learn the history about each of the Beefeater cocktails on the menu and make up five drinks with the maestro himself. Book at www.69colebrookerow.com.

If Dad likes sweets – and tooling around in the kitchen – Belgravia chocolatier William Curley (198 Ebury Street) is doing a Father’s Day chocolate-making masterclass geared towards small children accompanied by guardians. If he’s got grandkids, it’s ideal. £40 per child. To book, call 020 730 5522.
