Website taken down as Pompey reach new low
PORTSMOUTH’S season of crisis took another farcical turn yesterday when their official website was taken offline because of an unpaid bill.
Juicy, the company that runs the site, only made the site available again later in the day after Pompey had made them a payment.
The club’s latest shambolic episode came as it emerged they have warned players that they are likely to be paid late yet again this month.
Portsmouth emailed all staff warning them that there could be a delay, which would be the fourth of its kind this season.
The Premier League’s bottom club are thought to be around £60m in debt and face a desperate battle to avoid becoming the first top-flight side to fall into administration.
They are due in court on 10 February to face two winding-up hearings: one from HM Revenue and Customs and another brought by two private companies.
Chief executive Peter Storrie, meanwhile, yesterday revealed he had not been notified of plans to sell defender Younes Kaboul and goalkeeper Asmir Begovoic to Tottenham.
Storrie, who has cut an increasingly disillusioned figure following several changes of ownership, said: “I feel I’m the best person to get the best fee. It makes you wonder what one is doing there at the moment.”
