Unilever is going to cut the size of its ice cream products aimed at adults, just in time for spring and summer.

The multinational firm, which produces Magnum and Cornetto, as well as Ben & Jerry's, said it would be shrinking its ice creams to help consumers "make healthier choices".

That means a "single serving" will contain no more than 250 calories each, according to a report in The Grocer.

“We have introduced this 250 calorie cap to help make it easier for our consumers to make informed and healthier choices when enjoying their favourite ice creams as part of a balanced lifestyle," Noel Clarke, executive director of brand building for Unilever UK & Ireland said. “It was important there be no compromise to taste or quality and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered.”

Unilever said it had spent 18 months cutting all its “single-serving” ice-creams to below 250 calories.

Unilever will leave an even more bitter taste in ice cream lovers' mouths as they will drop a number of products altogether, including Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Caramel, Magnum Infinity Chocolate, and Cornetto Choc ’N’ Ball.
