UBS veteran James Palmer appointed EMEA investment bank vice chairman

UBS veteran James Palmer has been appointed vice chairman of EMEA investment banking and capital markets at Credit Suisse.

Palmer will be based in the Swiss banking giant's London office and focus on revenue generation across all product groups, according to an internal memo seen by City PM and confirmed by a company spokesperson.

After beginning his career with UBS in 1996 in the corporate broking group in London, Palmer's most recent role was head of equity capital markets for the bank in New York. 

"We have asked James to concentrate his efforts on revenue generation across all product groups, leveraging his existing contacts and relationships in Europe and the US to act as a senior sponsor to key clients, complementing the coverage of our existing teams," the memo to staff said.

"This important hire reflects our continued strategy of attracting top talent to the UK and investing in businesses with solid growth opportunities."
