It’s that time of year when the two-year-olds face the stalls for the first time. The outcome is polarised. They are either indifferent to the starting stalls and walk in, or they have to be man-handled into the offending metal framed contraption. Witnessing the careful preparation of 40 or so individuals makes you realise just how much exertion and resilience has to go into this every day event.
The seven entered runners in the 3.20pm at Lingfield tomorrow have been through the stalls process and have run and won plenty of races between them. However, come 3.23pm I’m expecting only KAMES PARK to have improved his strike rate. He has won three of his eight starts this season, but has been placed in all the other five. Franny Norton will drop him out the back and I expect him to swoop late down the outside.
Last Sunday was Valentines and any of you who were successful in ensnaring a new partner may be interested in backing CUPID’S GLORY in the 3.55pm at Lingfield tomorrow. He won well at Kempton last time and can strike another blow for the in-form Gary Moore yard.
According to my mates, Pete and John, the horse to back in the Blue Square Gold Cup Chase at Haydock tomorrow (3.35pm) is DREAM ALLIANCE. He won the Welsh National in December and is a horse going places by all accounts.
