THE INSIDER

It’s about time the Derby winner came out and took on his elders in the King George. Great horses like Shergar, Nashwan and Lammtarra completed the double and I think WORKFORCE can add his name to the list tomorrow. His Epsom performance was breathtaking, scything through the field like a knife through butter. Yes, the form hasn’t been franked but that was only his third career start and there should be a lot of improvement to come. Plus, he gets a handy weight-for-age allowance and that should be enough to see off stablemate Harbinger.

The Richard Hannon team will be going to Goodwood mob-handed and the one I’m really interested in is the Sir Alex Ferguson-owned PAUSANIAS. We all know that the yard’s two-year-olds have been absolutely flying this season, but he did a piece of work upsides some really decent juveniles earlier this week. That suggested he will win his maiden, so keep an eye out for whichever race he is entered in next week.

Another Hannon horse who I’ll be backing on the Sussex Downs is ORATORY in the last race on Wednesday’s card. He has always threatened to win a decent handicap and the drop back to seven furlongs should suit him perfectly.
