Legs eleven, black eleven, left wing (eleven), one less than a dozen (eleven) has always been my number but I’m going to have to swap it for seven. SEVEN IS MY NUMBER might be an obvious choice seeing as he has won five out of his last six racecourse visits but looking at Oddschecker the horse is 7/1 for Saturday’s Sky Bet Handicap Chase at Doncaster and that’s a good omen. Just don’t mention anything about coming seventh. I would also like to have a little saver on KHACHATURIAN (e/w) as this runner for Donald McCain Jnr will appreciate the trip and the going good-to-soft but probably wouldn’t want it any softer.

Tomorrow the 3.55pm handicap at Lingfield looks interesting. Full Toss who gamely tried to win some money for this column and Baylini who did, if you had been on each way, are both declared. However, I have a feeling that the race may go to THE CAYTERERS who will be steered home by the capable Andrew Heffernan.

Mafeking and Baylini were separated by only a neck at Lingfield last time and they’d be the ones for the forecast. Mafeking is developing a reputation as a ‘twicer’ having finished second in five of his last seven races, while Baylini may just find one too good again.
