THE TOTEPOOL ROSE of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock (2.40pm) looks like quick compensation for ALLIED POWERS, the York Stakes runner-up. He will love the going as long as it is truly Good to Soft, so make sure you watch the first and check the time. Anything firmer than Good, then it’s a no bet.

DANCOURT looks the most likely winner of the Totescoop6 Stakes at Haydock (3.15pm). Even though he will be running off an eight pound higher mark than last time, I think he can improve again and net his hat-trick.

The Skybet.com Sweet Solera Stakes on Newmarket’s July course looks very interesting. I’ve been waiting to see Jira stepped up to seven furlongs and the stiff finish should suit her very well but I’m slightly concerned that now we are into August that there may be one or two to beat her over this trip. SENT FROM HEAVEN comes from a stable that knows the form very well and I will back her to win this contest, but I will have a sneaky forecast just to make sure I haven’t underestimated the other filly.

Today Ed Vaughan has three runners. His horses have been off the boil for most of the season but in the past week or so they seem to be hitting top note. As such I’m going to have a small e/w patent on HOLD THE STAR (Brighton 2.30), NOBLE DICTATOR (Lingfield 3.10) and MISS TIKITIBOO (Lingfield 5.10).
