PRIOR to a jam-packed Super Saturday, we also have Group One action from Newmarket’s July Course on Friday, with the Falmouth Stakes (3.35pm) headlining the bill.

The mile contest gives us the first opportunity to see how this year’s Classic generation match up with the older fillies at the top level.

The English and Irish Guineas winners, as well as the Coronation Stakes winner, are represented in Ballydoyle pair True Love and Precise.

Those two, alongside the progressive Juddmonte filly Blue Bolt and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Balantina make this a highly intriguing contest.

Precise heads the market at a shade of odds-on, and it’s hard to argue with the price considering the dominance she looks to hold over the three-year-old division.

She impressed in the Irish 1000 Guineas, when reversing the Newmarket form with True Love, before a gutsy win in the Coronation Stakes.

There’s no doubt she’s a top-class filly, but she takes a lot out of the market considering she didn’t blow her rivals away last time, and there could be other fillies coming to the boil now that are overpriced.

BALANTINA fits that bill for Donnacha O’Brien.

She’s already tasted success at the top table as mentioned when winning at Del Mar and should step forward for her recent reappearance at Royal Ascot.

She was reportedly badly in need of the run that day, when very worked up in the prelims but still travelled like one of the best in the race before her lack of race fitness perhaps told at the business end.

That should’ve blown the cobwebs away and, with improvement likely, she looks a good each way bet at 6/1.
