Butler is an advocate of easing the lockdown and warns that the economic impact of the current restrictions will get worse (and harder to recover from) the longer they remain in place.

He also talks about the economic landscape that will exist on the other side of this pandemic, and cautions against any tax rises or new regulations that could choke off an economic recovery.

Also in this episode, Christian looks at the state of the government’s job retention scheme; Virgin Atlantic’s drastic survival bid; and the latest miserable economic data from lockdown Britain.

Listen to our daily City View podcast as we chart the economic fallout and business impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
