Spurs won’t sell Modric in January, pledges Levy
TOTTENHAM chairman Daniel Levy has handed the club’s Premier League charge a boost by confirming none of their stars will be sold in January, as revealed by City PM last month.
Spurs sit fourth after a start to the season that has exceeded expectations, but are bracing themselves for bids next month for playmaker Luka Modric, a summer target for Chelsea, and winger Gareth Bale.
The club, whose shareholders yesterday voted to de-list from the AIM stock market in January, are also looking to raise funding for the construction of a new stadium in north London.
But Levy said: “We have a great squad with exceptional talent and none of the main players will be leaving in January. “I hope we have a great season and that we can finish in the top four or, who knows, maybe even higher. We want first place.”
Manager Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, has been warned by the Football Association over his criticism of referee Chris Foy in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Stoke. Redknapp had accused Foy of “quite enjoying not giving us anything” at the Britannia Stadium.
