Ribery final ban upheld
FOOTBALL: Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery will miss the Champions League final after his appeal against a ban was dismissed.

The Frenchman was suspended for three games for his red card against Lyon in the semi-final – ruling him out of the 22 May showdown with Inter Milan.

Ribery’s absence is a major blow to the Germans’ hopes of denying Jose Mourinho, and Bayern have vowed to take their protest to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Hearing for Worcester pair
RUGBY UNION: Worcester duo Chris Cracknell and James Collins have been summoned to a disciplinary hearing next week over a touchline fracas at Leeds last month. Cracknell is accused of dragging a spectator from the stands, while Collins is alleged to have sworn at a supporter following the defeat at Headingley, which confirmed Worcester’s relegation.

The pair’s hearing takes place on Tuesday at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Hingis and Kournikova reunited
TENNIS: Fans’ favourites Martina Hingis and Anna Kournikova will return to Wimbledon this year to compete in the veterans doubles.

Former world No1 Hingis, 29, won the singles title in 1997 but retired in 2007 after testing positive for cocaine at the tournament.

Kournikova, 28, reached the last four in 1997 but has not played since 2003 because of persistent injury.
