Small cameras for snap-happy holiday makers

LEICA
V-LUX 30

German brand Leica is known for its high-spec, ever-so-groovy cameras, and the new V-Lux 30 is a case in point. Sleek and compact, it’s got an impressive 16x zoom, touch-screen controls, GPS tagging can create 3D photos and records video in HD. £550 www.leica-camera.co.uk

NIKON
COOLPIX P7000

Launched last autumn, Nikon’s smart new addition to the Coolpix family is packed with cutting-edge technology – a versatile all-purpose camera. £489 www.nikon.co.uk

OLYMPUS
PEN MINI E-PM1

The new PEN Mini is about to be launched, and should be pretty much the lightest interchangeable-lens camera on the market. Among its many features, it takes a leaf out of the Instagram app’s book with filters for pictures such as “pop art”, “grainy film” and “pinhole” to add atmosphere. The filters work for movies too. Price TBC. www.olympus.co.uk

SONY
TX55

This happens to be the world’s thinnest compact camera, at just 13.2mm in width. That stops it from ticking some good technical boxes, including a 10x zoom, HD movie recording, 3D imaging and “intelligent sweep panorama HR mode” for those dramatic landscapes. It’ll be available in the autumn.
Price TBC. www.sony.co.uk

PANASONIC
LUMIX GF3

This is Panasonic’s smallest and lightest interchangeable-lens camera, weighing just 225g. It has built-in flash technology, and there’s a range of 12 compatible lenses available separately. £399.99 (camera body only) or £548.99 bundle with standard lens. www.panasonic.co.uk
