PINTER PLAY COMES TO FLEET STREET
Legend has it that Harold Pinter’s career was saved by Harold Hobson’s single favourable review of The Birthday Party: “a skull-beneath-the-skin play, exposing the horrors and fears that lurk under the calm, dull surface of our everyday existence”. In 1959, a year after its disastrous opening, The Birthday Party was performed by The Tavistock Players, now better known as the Tower Theatre, and as a result was critically re-assessed as a masterpiece of modern theatre. This is a great chance to see a brilliant play. 8-12 June, Bridewell Theatre, 14 Bride Lane, Fleet Street, EC4Y 8EQ. Tickets £12. To book, call Tower Theatre’s box office: 020 7353 1700.

MUSTARD VODDIES AT PRISM
Prism’s Brasserie will become a Cluedo-style den with the launch of limited edition savoury cocktails using boutique spirit maker Sipsmith’s Colman’s mustard vodka. The Colonel Mustard adds honey syrup, pear puree, lemon juice and egg white to the voddie. Or there’s the Bloody Scarlet – Prism’s take on a Bloody Mary, with an added kick of the mustard vodka. Professor Plum is the non-alcoholic addition to the list, with plum, raspberries and blueberries. Two new afternoon teas launch too, loaded with British goodies. From 1 June at Prism, EC3V 4QT. Tel: 020 7256 3875
