WHERE IT IS
Ascot is a village in Berkshire, technically within the civil parish of Sunninghill and Ascot. The region is divided into Ascot itself, North and and South Ascot.

SCHOOLS
The schools in Ascot are good and some are rather smart – particularly the girls schools. Of these, St Mary’s Ascot, a Catholic all girls boarding school in South Ascot, is best-known. St George’sschool for girls is another leading independent senior school in the area and was recently attended by Princess Beatrice of York. The Licensed Victuallers’ School is located down the road from Ascot Racecourse. The local state secondary school in the Ascot area is Charters School in nearby Sunningdale, which received a Grade 1 Outstanding assessment from the schools watchdog Ofsted in 2009.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO?
The racecourse is the focus of Ascot’s fame – it’s used around the year, not just for the Royal Ascot, and has a wide variety of eating and drinking options for a great day out. Nearby is also the new Coworth Park, from the Dorchester Hotel group, which is a high-luxury hotel, spa and restaurant – it’s where the wealthy denizens of the area come for a relaxing, romantic weekend. Out of towners also frequent it. The area is also wonderful for people who want to own horses or ride: nearby Winkfield is particularly good for riders.
