Lewis retains world title and targets a perfect 10
PDC World Darts Champion Adrian Lewis believes he is capable of winning the tournament 10 times after he retained his crown last night with a convincing victory over fellow Englishman Andy Hamilton.
Lewis, who produced a sensational comeback to oust James Wade in Sunday’s semi-final, never looked in trouble against Stoke thrower Hamilton and ran out an easy 7-3 winner to scoop the £200,000 first prize.
And Lewis, 26, a former protege of 15-times world champion Phil Taylor, is confident he is capable of embarking on a period of domination.
Asked how many times he could win the world title, he said: “At least 10. It’s not quite sunk in yet. I take everything on the chin and have a busy year ahead. This is title number two and I’ll have a lot more.
“The fightback against James Wade on Sunday night won me the tournament. I believed in myself.”
Hamilton, 44, added: “It has been a great week for me. I wanted to win so badly but I’m happy to be here.”
