Horse Racing Betting Tips: Nothing Little about Jo’s chances in Silver Cambridgeshire

FOR THOSE who missed out on a place in tomorrow’s Cambridgeshire, they have the consolation of today’s concluding Silver Cambridgeshire (5.15pm).

Last year’s renewal was bursting with quality with Lincoln winner Addeybb just getting the better of Royal Hunt Cup runner-up Afaak, as well as number of other unexposed types.

Perhaps there aren’t quite as many this time around, but it still looks an intriguing contest on paper.

David Menuisier’s History Writer is entitled to go well back down in trip, having clearly failed to see out the extra furlong at Sandown last time.

He has progressed well this season and commands plenty of respect over what looks his optimum distance, but I’m keen to take a chance on Brian Ellison’s LITTLE JO right at the bottom of the handicap.

Ellison’s four-year-old had wind surgery earlier in the year and it’s clearly done the trick, with his inmate reeling off consecutive wins at Pontefract, Newmarket and most recently at Newcastle, where he blitzed the field by four lengths.

He was raised 10lbs for that win, but with this race being an early closer, he’s 6lbs well in.

For a horse with bags of potential, a mark of just 75, as well as Ben Robinson’s 3lb claim, must give him a golden chance of taking his biggest race to date.

Hughie Morrison took a couple of competitive handicaps at Newbury last weekend and he looks to have a worthy contender in the shape of Escape The City.

The three-year-old has run well in a number of big-field handicaps this season and he’s only gone up a couple of pounds for his close third in the Beverley Silver Cup at the beginning of the month.
