ILOOK for people with enthusiasm, drive and a willingness to listen when I consider a company for investment. Lengthy business plans don’t really do it for me,” says Paul Turner, the chief executive of Seventeen Group and an early stage investor in companies like Julie Meyer’s Ariadne Capital. “I like meeting and connecting with people doing interesting things that’s why I’m facilitating a table at the City PM and Entrepreneurs World Conference.”

Turner has a lot of experience to offer start-up entrepreneurs. He doesn’t look for any particular profile or business sector when considering an investment: “Entrepreneurs come from all walks of life, I’m just interested in those with bright ideas.”

Ivor Tucker, the founder of Entrepreneurs World, the co-host of the conference, says that having this kind of expertise at each of the tables will help entrepreneurs grow their businesses more successfully: “I hope that the conference will prevent entrepreneurs looking back and saying ‘I wish I had known this about getting funding’.”

The conference aims to sit entrepreneurs and investors together while taking them through a series of workshops on early stage funding. There will be a particular focus on legal and finance issues.
