PORTSMOUTH boss Avram Grant has been charged by the Football Association with improper conduct after confronting referee Kevin Friend at half-time during Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

Grant squared up to referee Friend after seeing two penalty claims turned down and having defender Ricardo Rocha sent off for conceding the penalty which led to Darren Bent’s 12th-minute opener at Fratton Park. He has until Thursday to respond to the charge.
