British designer Thomas Heatherwick, the man behind the iconic Olympic cauldron at the London Games, could soon cast his creative vision on Google's new European headquarters in London.

The technology giant wants Heatherwick to work on its £1bn, 93,000sq m development for 4,500 employees at King's Cross, according to Business Insider.

The award-winning designer's London-based company, Heatherwick Studios, is currently working on Google's Californian headquarters as well as the proposed Garden Bridge project across the Thames.

Various reports suggest that Google and architecture agency Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) have failed to see eye to eye on the primary plans for the London headquarters which is currently without a completion date.

Heatherwick is working with Danish architect Bjarke Ingels on Google's new Californian building in Mountain View.

Heatherwick Studios declined to comment when contacted by City PM
