Wine website launches
Lot 18, a groovy members’ only wine website stocking everything from Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac 1995 to Francis Ford Coppola’s Inglenook Rubicon Estate Blancaneaux 2009, has recently launched in the UK. If you fancy access to wines that are a little harder to find, at good prices for a limited period, it’s probably worth signing up. The website stocks wine via 15 wine experts that scour the world to uncover good vintages, whether from a small independent winery in the Loire, a California landmark from Napa, a treasure from Tuscany or a newcomer from Kent. Jewish delights to cook
Warn bagels and apple strudel, anyone? So titled is the book of heart-warming, “nostalgic” Jewish recipes from food writers Ruth Joseph and Simon Round. Whatever religion you are, your mouth should start watering approximately immediately upon opening the book. Carbs figure shamelessly: the front cover features thick, crusty, odd-shaped bagels decked in sesame and poppy seeds. Once past this, you’ll find bourekas (samosa-like pastries), perfect pretzels, strudels, dumplings, orange and olive oil cake. It’s not all heart attack food: there are some beautiful salads too. Free lift to lunch at the Gun
