Many football fans are content with heading to their nearest boozer to watch the latest Euro 2016 action, but some City folk might want a venue that’s a bit more flash.

Whether you're a City fund manager or a Canary Wharf banker, be sure to watch the beautiful game with a touch of glamour.

Steam & Rye

Minutes from the Lloyd's and Leadenhall buildings, the Square Mile's insurers should head to Steam and Rye on Leadenhall Street to catch the afternoon matches.

You can book a booth with your own personal screen or, if you have a larger group, rent out one of their private rooms, all of which are fully equipped with wide screens, but be warned – matches won't be aired on evenings and weekends, so you'll have to take a long lunch.

Amber

Close to Moorgate and the Barbican, Amber Bar has teamed up with Heineken to create a bespoke, bright green lounge area to watch every game throughout the championships.

City slickers who book a private room to catch the football can get the party started with a burger and four beers at £25 per person, while those less keen on spectating can have a go on the bar's table football and ping-pong tables.

1 Lombard Street

For those who prefer gin cocktails to pints, look no further than the quintessentially British offering at 1 Lombard Street. Opposite the Bank of England and Mansion House and a favourite haunt of the financial district's veterans, the swish City brasserie is screening all the big games from Wimbledon to the European Championships from their dome bar.

Enjoy floral creations from gin distillery Sipsmith or a rhubarb and elderflower daquiri while shouting football chants at the art-deco bar.

So keen are the folks at the Square Mile establishment to celebrate a summer of sport, the pillars at the entrance have been decked out in turf (pictured).

Patch

Close to St Paul's Cathedral, Patch's mid-week happy hour specials are infamous in the Square Mile. This year staff are going all out with Euro celebrations, screen every match and giving punters a chance to indulge in one of three viewing packages. You can choose from their silver, gold or platinum options for reserved screen seats, buckets of beer and tasty finger food, but only the platinum package gives you access to an open bar. A steal at £45 per person.

Barsmith

Football fans who like the finer things in life may want to check out Smithfield's swanky cocktail bar Barsmith. The watering hole has four bespoke viewing packages on offer, ranging from £160-£900 per group. The cheapest, the eight-person Cocktail Lover's package, includes a reserved area, pizza, a round of cocktails and a bucket of 12 beers, which should keep everyone going till half-time.

Conveniently placed in Cabot Square and named for the famous Renaissance explorer and financier, Amerigo Vespucci offers a refined approach to watching the Beautiful Game. Perfect for Italy fans (or fans of Italian dining), punters can enjoy a prosecco-based cocktail at the al-fresco bar while taking in the sporting action from the outdoor area's two wide screens.
