The Eastern City Business Improvement District is investing £44,000 across 11 local charitable projects, focussing on education, employability and wellbeing in the area.

This is the fourth year that the BID has supported community funding, making a real impact to charities which want to make a real difference for those who live and work in the area.

The charitable projects chosen for 2026 are:

  • AA Urban Rise CIC (boosting financial literacy among young people through engaging workshops)
  • Ambition, Aspire, Achieve (after-school nature club and outdoor learning activities for disadvantaged children)
  • ASRA Club (summer sports and arts programme for secondary schoolgirls in East London)
  • Chapter One (UK) (online 1-1 reading programme for children)
  • Inspiring Audio (a series of drama podcasts encouraging children to walk, explore and learn some of Canada’s stories)
  • London Jaguars Community Association (working with the BAME community to empower and encourage young people and the wider community by raising self-esteem)
  • Reaching Out (drop-in workshops to improve digital confidence and independence)
  • SocietyLinks Tower Hamlets (supportive GCSE maths club working to boost pass rates)
  • Yes Futures (providing SEND and neurodiverse learners sessions with industry-experienced volunteer coaches to set goals and develop workplace communication skills)
  • Bow Foodbank (essential emergency food aid for young people in East London)

Meg Bailey from the Eastern City BID said:  “ Once again, our Eastern City Community Fund represents a significant investment in our community, supporting a diverse range of initiatives aimed at addressing social, educational, environmental and economic challenges.

“By collaborating with non-profit organisations and community stakeholders, the BID demonstrates its commitment to driving positive change in challenging times to create a more inclusive future for all.”
