Commuters face day of disruption due to train fault between Stratford and St Pancras International

A damaged track between Stratford and Eurostar hub St Pancras has triggered widespread delays and disruption for commuters this afternoon.

Southeastern said disruption to its high speed services would continue through the rest of the day. A limited service is will run between Stratford and St Pancras until about 10pm this evening, and there will be no service after 9.45pm.

Southeastern said tickets would be accepted on all reasonable routes on the DLR, London Underground, Thameslink between London Bridge and St Pancras, TfL Rail between Liverpool Street and Stratford and Greater Anglia services between Liverpool Street and Stratford.

Southeastern said: "During routine track inspections, a set of points just outside St Pancras International was found to be damaged.

"Points allow trains to move from one running line to another, which means that for safety reasons, a speed restriction has been put in place over the area.

"Throughout the day, we've had to run a reduced service in to, and out of London St Pancras. Some services have been altered, and cancelled.

"Trains this evening will continue to be disrupted throughout the evening peak, as service will still be reduced."
