City Moves who’s switching jobs

Stephenson Harwood
The international law firm has hired Duncan Stiles to its corporate practice, specialising in public and private M&A transactions, primarily for FTSE 100 and 250 clients.

Stiles joins from rival Ashurst, where he spent over 18 years and became a partner in 2000. In addition to building up a successful M&A practice, he also founded the group’s Spanish practice and was most recently managing partner in New York.

RBC Wealth Management
The wealth manager, part of the Royal Bank of Canada, has appointed Wasim Afzal as a manager in its structured notes and fixed income advisory team.

Afzal has over 12 years of experience in the industry, having previously worked at Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank and RBC Capital Markets.

Ecclesiastical
The socially-responsible investment management company has appointed Philip Baker as strategic partnership manager.

Baker previously worked at Fidelity International, where he held roles as a relationship manager on the funds network platform and senior business development manager in the investment solutions group.

PAAMCO
Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company, the fund of hedge funds, has hired Peter Stein to join its senior management team and chair the strategy allocation committee.

Stein, who will be based in California, was previously chief investment officer at the University of Chicago.

St Georges Finance
Richard Bennett has joined the fledgling finance & asset provider as a managing director.

Bennett, 39, previously held positions representing global manufacturing companies in the UK. In his new role, he will be responsible for St Georges’ purchasing and sales within Europe.

Witan Jardine
The recruitment group, which was last year acquired by Ambition Group, has appointed Guy Day as its new London chief.

Day formerly established Ambition’s Asia office in Hong Kong in 2001. He will also continue with his role as managing director for Asia.
