Execution
The agency broker has appointed Bruce Howitt, formerly a director of Merrill Lynch’s fixed income business, to head up its newly created agency credit division.

Howitt, who will become head of European credit at Execution, previously spent six years with Merrill Lynch, where he managed the non-financials trading desk.

He has also formerly held senior positions at Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan.

UBS
The investment bank has named Mitch Moore as its new global head of exchange-traded derivatives (ETD), based in London.

Moore, 46, joined UBS in 1992 and rejoins the firm following his departure last year. He previously ran the ETD business for UBS and its predecessor firm, Union Bank of Switzerland. More recently, until March 2008, he held the position of global chief operating officer for equities and fixed income, currencies and commodities at the bank.

Gartmore
Warren Shiels, who joined the asset management firm in 2000, has been promoted to the newly-created role of head of intermediary sales.

Shields will be responsible for distributing Gartmore’s funds to IFAs and third-party distributors, including fund platforms and life companies. He will report to Richard Pursglove, head of UK retail.

Mint Equities
The agency broker has hired Graham Stokes to focus on convertible bonds.

Stokes joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was a managing director responsible for European convertible bond sales and trading.

He has over 15 years of experience in the market, having previously built up ING’s Russian and emerging Europe equity derivatives platform and Commerzbank’s convertible bond platform.

HSBC Private Bank
The bank has appointed Nikolai Gurbatov as an associate director in its London-based Central Eastern Europe team.

Gurbatov previously worked at Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division, based in Russia. He also spent over six years at Morgan Stanley in both its investment banking and private wealth management divisions.

In his new role, he will be responsible for providing strategic advice to CEE clients residing in London and in the CEE region.

RBC Wealth Management
The wealth management firm, part of the Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Thomas Roiz as head of Latin America for its RBC Suisse division.

Roiz has over 20 years of private banking experience with Citibank and JPMorgan, among other institutions.

He will report to Karen Simpson, vice president and general manager of RBC Suisse.
