GAM
The investment management firm has appointed Niall Gallagher as an investment director, effective from 2 November.
Gallagher, who will be responsible for managing GAM’s European long-only equity strategies, previously managed pan-European and continental European equities at T. Rowe Price.
He also formerly worked at BlackRock for nine years, having begun his career as an economist at the Bank of England.
Marsh
The insurance broker and risk adviser has appointed Simon Markey as chief executive of its UK affinity business, based in London.
Markey was most recently managing director of the Lifestyle Services Group and, prior to that, held several management positions in retail banking at Lloyds TSB.
In his new role, he will report for Martin South, Marsh’s chief executive for the UK.
Execution
The agency broker has hired five new employees in its fixed income division.
Olivier Dega joins from Credit Suisse, where he covered fixed-income sales for French accounts.
Michael Leonard joins as a sterling specialist from Credit Suisse Asset Management, while Karolina Kalkantara will cover the asset-backed markets and was previously at Deutsche Bank.
Also joining are asset-banked securities trader Jaren Yeo and money-market credit salesman Toby Rackliff, from Citi and ABN Amro respectively.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch
The bank has appointed Nicolas Beyaert as a financial adviser in its wealth management business in France.
Beyaert joins from Lombard Odier private banking, where he spent almost six years advising entrepreneurs on their wealth management strategies.
Prior to that, he was a principal and investment specialist at Beo Finance, a boutique he founded with four partners, and spent nine years as a fund manager at Credit Agricole Asset Management.
Standard Bank
Bob Fernandez has joined the bank as head of debt capital markets for Africa, a role based in Johannesburg.
Fernandez joins from JP Morgan, where he ran the debt capital markets business in three major emerging market regions: Latin America, Asia, and Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA).
He will report to global head of DCM Florian von Hartig and head of African investment banking Helmut Engelbrecht.
Stenham
The investment management group has hired Paul Bailey as an exclusive consultant for the Bermuda and Caribbean region.
Bailey previously spent ten years with GAM in London and Bermuda and has extensive knowledge of the region and its important decision-makers.
