Farage says ministers are banned from speaking to him
Nigel Farage has said that cabinet ministers have been banned from speaking to him by Downing Street.
The former Ukip leader who has been close to Donald Trump since the businessman was elected President labelled British politics "small-minded, petty and tribal", speaking to the BBC's Radio 4.
"I find the fact that Downing Street don't want to acknowledge me, have banned cabinet ministers from even talking to me, it shows you the sort of very small-minded, petty, tribal level that British politics is at – it's a shame," he told the Broadcasting House program, aired on Sunday Morning.
Farage was the first UK politician to meet with Trump after his election in November, famously posing with the President-elect in front of gold-plated doors.
They have since met several times and Farage said he wants to be a bridge between the UK and the new administration, but is not being given the opportunity.
Downing Street was forced to respond to a tweet by Trump last month saying Farage would do a "great job" as ambassador to the US.
It said there was "no vacancy" and that "we already have an excellent ambassador to the US".
