Nigel Farage warns of political anger “the likes of which we’ve never seen”

Nigel Farage has added fuel to the fire in the row over how Brexit will be triggered, warning that there would be unprecedented political anger among people who might feel "cheated" and "betrayed".

"If the people in this country think they're going to be cheated, that they're going to be betrayed, we're going to see political anger the likes of which none of us have ever witnessed in our lifetimes in this country," he said, speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr show.

"Those newspaper headlines are reflecting that," he said, referring to media coverage which has been condemned by barristers for attacking the judiciary.

Farage reiterated his belief that the result of the referendum result risked being de-railed by a "wealthy ruling elite".

"I've seen movement to try and keep us in the single market. Now we've seen Jeremy Corbyn, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg – even some Tory backbenchers who were on the leave side are now arguing 'well of course, Britain must stay part of the single market. And frankly, if that's where we end up, we've got half-Brexit and that's not what we voted for."

Farage also tussled with Gina Miller, the woman who led the High Court battle to put Article 50 to a parliamentary vote and who earlier slammed the press coverage of the case.

He said he was referring to Miller as one of the elite, and asked her "what part of the word leave don't you understand?".

"You should actually be my biggest fan" replied Miller, arguing that the ruling provided legal certainty to the Brexit process.
