Despite the Farnborough Airshow being called off due to inclement weather yesterday, it was back up and running today – and a number of deals have been announced since take-off this morning.

Tui Group

The London-listed travel firm, owner of the Thomson and First Choice brands, has finalised an agreement worth £1.1bn to buy 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and one 787-9 Dreamliner.

Boeing

Meanwhile, the US aircraft manufacturer said an undisclosed Chinese customer had committed to buying 30 737 planes – in a deal worth more than $3bn (£2.3bn) at current prices.

Airbus

Airbus confirmed that German airline Germania has ordered 25 A320neo planes, a transaction worth £2.68bn. Germania has also taken out an option on buying a further 15 of the aircraft.

Lockheed Martin

The US defence firm is to sell 10 LM-100J commercial freighter aircraft to Brazilian logistics group Bravo Industries. The two companies gave no financial details of the contract.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways has agreed to buy up to 10 per cent of Latin America's largest airline, Latam, in a deal worth $613m, subject to shareholder approval. The acquisition follows Qatar Airway's move to increase its stake in British Airways owner IAG in May. The Qatar airline may also be set to take on a significant stake in Italy's Meridiana airline.

In addition, Rolls-Royce chief executive Warren East told reporters at the event that the company could make cost savings of up to £1bn – but that no hard targets have been set. East added that he was looking at new opportunities, including a new Boeing plane. "We would like to participate if it's a sensible opportunity. We will see what plane they actually come up with, if they come up with one," East said.
