ZTE Axon Elite review: finally, a phone you can lick

The Axon Elite is a phone you can lick up and down all day long, either in the privacy of your own home or while out on the street, safe in the knowledge that its antimicrobial glass screen is killing 99 per cent of bacteria and potentially saving your life.
Not only is the phone oddly hygienic, but it’s a tough old thing too, built from fancy modern aerospace materials, and roughly the size of the moon thanks to its two girder-sized speakers at either end.
Dual 13 megapixel cameras on the rear (another first) allow for refocussing after a photo is taken, and the phone can record 4K video. You can also unlock the device using the phone’s in-built retina-scanner, as long as you don’t mind holding the thing up to your face for an awkward second or two.
Putting aside the litany of bizarre features, the Axon Elite is a well-specced and solidly built phone at an affordable price point. Ditch the gaudy as hell, black-and-gold ZTE skin, and what you’re left with is worthwhile, and lickable, mid-range phone.
