You can now sleep in a Tesla Model S on Airbnb

Airbnb has some pretty funky spots – from a footballer's family vineyard to, er, Ikea. But this spot will be rather less roomy: for the bargain price of £58 per night, you can now stay the night in a Tesla Model S, courtesy of the room rental site.

The listing dubs it "the world's first Tesla hotel". The car will be locked in the owner's garage in Phoenix, Arizona, and guests will be provided with a twin airbed and two remote controlled candles "to help set a fun camping mood". They'll also have access to "climate controlled comfort all night", and "any internet music you would like on the huge, 17" monitor".

Want to take it for a spin? No problem: the Tesla's owner is a commercially insured Limo driver – but a drive around will cost you extra, as will a guided tour of Phoenix.

And unfortunately, the comfort doesn't extend to an en suite: guests will be forced to use the bathroom and shower in the owner's condo. Although he adds that they'll also have use of his "kitchen, living room and TV".

Other limitations include "NO NBA players allowed. Despite my love for basketball, the Tesla is just too small for anyone over 6'6". And this is for early risers only: "as the Tesla is of course my transportation, I would request that you are up by 8am so I can get to work". Probably not the ideal one for those on a relaxing holiday, then…
