Wood to miss Heineken Cup final
RUGBY UNION: England flanker Tom Wood has been ruled out of Saturday’s Heineken Cup final against Leinster in Cardiff. The Premiership player of the year will not be fit in time, despite sleeping in an oxygen tent in hope of speeding up his recovery from a hairline leg fracture sustained against Gloucester on 19 April. Saints rugby director Jim Mallinder said: “He was very, very close. If we were desperate we could have taken a chance but it’s not worth it.”
