WHO swam and who sank? City A.M sorts the champs from the chumps.

WINNER
RICHARD HUGHES
With six days left of the jockeys’ championship Hughes is doing his best to make it a nailbiter. The Irishman cut Paul Hanagan’s lead to just three wins after earning two victories at Lingfield yesterday.

LOSER
JAMES GRAHAM
England’s rugby league captain will have to rally troops for the wooden spoon decider with Papua New Guinea after a six-try loss to Australia killled off hopes of reaching the Four Nations final.

LOSER
RICHIE MCCAW
Good news: New Zealand warmed up for a Test against England by losing to Australia – their first defeat in 16 games. Bad news: captain McCaw says they’ll bounce back this weekend at Twickenham.
