We’ll learn quickly to stun Wallabies, claims Easter
NICK EASTER believes England can up the ante when they head Down Under for their summer tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The Harlequins No8 captained the side to an encouraging 35-26 win over the Barbarians at Twickenham on Saturday and now has the six-game series, including two Test with the Wallabies, in his sights.
“We’re far from where we want to be but there were some good signs,” Easter said.
“Our basics were good but we lost it a bit towards the end. At times our physicality in defence let us down and we tried to play too much in our 22 but that’s game management which we can, and will, address. We’ll learn quickly.
“We’ve made this a six-game tour and importantly we started with a win. But it’s the tough games away from home that you remember.
“The Aussies are competitive and it’s a hard place to go. They’ve been doing very well in the Super 14 and they’re exactly the kind of team we need to test ourselves against.”
