Welcome to the revolution

London has the UK’s highest proportion of workers in full-time employment, each working an average of 38 hours per week.

According to the Office for National Statistics, Londoners spend three more weeks at work each year than the rest of the UK.

In light of these findings, City PM is partnering with Dropbox to collaborate on an editorial series which explores better ways of working.

The City has already proven itself to be a major disruptor on the issue of work-life balance, with Barclays, Lloyds, and RBS all named in the top 10 global businesses offering flexible working practices.

Therefore, we firmly believe it is part of City PM’s mission to provide a dedicated platform for those leading the way in championing a myriad of innovations that will influence how we can improve our working lives.

In the Forum this week and next, UK business leaders and industry experts will provide insight into the transformations that will revolutionise everything in the world of work – from brand new careers and automated recruitment to four-day weeks and altered working patterns.

Our Work in Flow series will culminate the following week with a cover wrap feature that takes an introspective look at how and why the UK office is changing and progressing. As increasing numbers of employees work from home, how can companies ensure that they are collaborating with their staff in the most seamless and effective way possible?

Businesses are hiring remote freelancers and agencies more than ever, perhaps only meeting them in person a handful of times, if at all. Being able to project manage and work together online has never been more important, especially when our colleagues are located in different time zones.

In response to this, our partner Dropbox will showcase how a centralised collaborative platform can keep teams in flow with an online tool, such as Dropbox Paper which provides users with the ability to come together and work on projects to achieve common goals.

As a prime example, we’ll take an in-depth look at how the City PM team used Paper to brainstorm and plan out an entire feature, proving how intuitive and simple it is for new users to get the best out of the platform, even if some collaborators are initially resistant to change.

We’ll explore the best ways of getting started with the platform and take care to demystify some of the most common digital terms. We’ll even show you how Dropbox Paper can benefit the work-stream in other unexpected ways, such as reducing the need for meetings. Just take a moment and imagine a world in which there are no unnecessary, time-consuming conference calls.

Whether you’re a seasoned digital professional looking for new collaborative tools, or a relative digital novice, Paper is an efficient way of getting things done.

See how Paper facilitates collaborative projects by enabling the co-editing of documents, embedding of images, and much more.

Work with your team, regardless of what software they have, wherever they are in the world, in real time. Capturing and building on ideas together in this way is the true principle of “work in flow”.

Our Work in Flow series is available in a dedicated online hub with exclusive online-only content.
