Waterloo chaos: South Western Railway tells commuters not to travel

Commuters heading to London this morning have been told not to travel by rail operator South Western, after Network Rail engineering works overran this weekend.

Stations at Working, Surbiton, Raynes Park and Earlsfield are all closed as a result, with no trains able to depart Wimbledon or Clapham Junction until the works conclude.

South Western said trains running across the whole of its network may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

Though the works were initially due to be cleared by 4:30am this morning, the trains operator has now said they could continue until 8:30am at the earliest.

Tickets are being accepted on Southern Rail, the Underground and TfL bus services from Chessington South, Surbiton and Teddington towards London Waterloo.
