Vettel still has much to prove

FERRARI’S Fernando Alonso believes it will only be possible to judge how good a Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel is once he has left Red Bull.

Vettel can win his fourth straight world title in Japan this weekend should he triumph at Suzuka and Alonso places outside the top eight.

But such is the strength of the Red Bull car, Alonso believes it is difficult to assess whether Vettel belongs among the all-time greats.

“He has enjoyed an advantage in car performance all these years, so we’ll se how good he is later in his career,” said two-time world champion Alonso.

“At the moment the Vettel-Red Bull combination is a very good combination and too good for us.”
