England supporters will have to present a so-called vaccine passport or proof of a negative Covid-19 test to gain entry to Euro 2020 games at Wembley

Vaccine passports will be used to admit fans to UK sporting events for the first time at Euro 2020.

Football supporters attending any of England’s three group games at Wembley will need to present the NHS app to prove they have had two jabs, or show evidence of a recent negative test.

If they are unable to do either they have been warned they will be turned away from the match.

Up to 22,500 fans – or one quarter of capacity – are expected to attend England’s opening Euro 2020 game against Croatia on Sunday.

England then face Scotland on Friday 18 June and the Czech Republic on 22 June.

Ticketholders have been told that anyone aged 11 or over will have to present the following:

“Proof of full vaccination — both doses received at least 14 days prior to the match (demonstrated via the NHS App or via the Scottish or Welsh vaccination record services).

“Or proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test (LFT), reported and demonstrated via a text message or email from NHS Test and Trace.

“This can be on your device (including a screenshot) or a printout. The test needs to be taken within 48 hours of the time stadium gates open (meaning three hours before match kick-off).”

If the vaccine passport proves effective, it could help increase spectator numbers for matches at Wembley in the later stages of the tournament.

The stadium is set to host both semi-finals and the final in July.
