US budget airline JetBlue is experiencing flight delays due to a power outage at its data centre.

The company's website has also gone down due to the issues.

In a statement on Twitter the company said it was experiencing "intermittent network issues" which were affecting airport systems, but it hopes to resolve the problem quickly:

We’re experiencing intermittent network issues due to a data center power outage. We’re working to resolve & should be restored shortly.

The firm also said its phone system is "sporadic right now".

Flights across the US have been grounded, with many would-be passengers taking to Twitter to voice their complaints:

Where's your backup plan @JetBlue ? Shouldn't you plan for these situations? #horrible #compensationplease

The travel chaos has not yet had any negative impact on JetBlue's share price, with the stock currently up 0.5 per cent.
