UFC 202 Conor McGregor v Nate Diaz purse: How much will fighters earn from record pay day?

Conor McGregor may have been soundly beaten in his first meeting with Nate Diaz, yet he remains the biggest draw in UFC judging by his pay slip for the rematch.

The Irish fighter will earn a record-setting $3m (£2.3m/€2.7m) for his second go at Diaz at UFC 202, according to figures confirmed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Diaz meanwhile will earn $2m from the bout, despite defeating McGregor last time out. Neither athlete is eligible for a win bonus.

Yet both fighters will add to their earnings from the night with a cut of the UFC's pay-per-view revenue which the organisation's president Dana White believes will smash records.

According to McGregor, his previous meeting with Diaz at UFC 196 currently holds the mantle for most pay-per-view orders, beating the previous record of 1.6m who watched Brock Lesnar obliterate Frank Mir at UFC 100, yet the UFC have not disclosed official figures.

UFC fighters earn a higher cut of pay-per-views the more popular the event. According to previously reported figures, once an event gets over 100,000 buys each fighter earns $1 from every purchase but that rises to $3 when that hits 500,000 buys – as UFC 202 almost certainly will.

Yet regardless of final pay-per-view sales, both McGregor and Diaz will earn considerably more than the respective $1m and $500,000 they earned for their first fight just five months ago.
