Severe delays and suspended lines affected the Circle Line, District Line, Metroplolitan Line and Hammersmith & City Line today following a signal failure at Aldgate.

People travelling to Heathrow airport were also hit by a separate signal failure between Paddington and Hayes and Harlington.

All the above lines suffered severe delays, whilt the Metropolitan Line had severe delays between Baker Street and Aldgate after the signal failure plunged commuters’ mornings into misery.

Earlier the Circle Line had been suspended between King’s Cross and Embankment via Tower Hill after the signal failure.

Transport for London (TfL) advised commuters to take local buses.

The delays struck days after commuters were warned of a possible summer shutdown on the Tube as unions ballot for strike action.
