Cameron House, Loch Lomond
Children can stay for free over Easter at Cameron House, one of the most splendid hotels in the British Isles. It occupies a grand 18th century country pile on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, and you can go sailing and fishing on the loch, take a sea plane trip, play golf, and eat Michelin-starred food. Oh and the spa, which opened last year, has to be seen to be believed. Cameron House has a special break offer of two nights bed and breakfast for a family of four (kids under 14) from £279, from 1 March to 4 June. Call 01389755565 or visit www.devere.co.uk.

Action-packed fun in Cornwall
Corwall’s Bedruthan Steps hotel has an action-packed, five night family break for the Easter holiday. Guests will be able to learn bush craft skills with a survival expert, go surfing and enter kite flying competitions, as well as drama workshops and samba lessons. Bedruthan’s rather stylish family villas have private patios overlooking the sea, and there are also swimming pools, a children’s club, and a Ocean spa. Five-night Bedruthan Easter holiday for two adults and two children from £1,506. Call 01637 860 555 or visit www.bedruthan.com.

Family luxury by the sea
The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, supposedly the sunniest place in Britain, mixes Victorian seaside opulence with all the modern luxuries of a top-class hotel, and it’s welcoming families for Easter. The Grand Junior Crew Club has a programme of activities for kids, while there are also day-care and evening baby-sitting services. From £144 per person per night, based on two adults sharing, with a £10 addition for children aged three to six, and £12.50 for teens. Stays over Easter Weekend can be extended at a special rate of £116 per person. Call 01323 412345 or visit www.grandeastbourne.com.
