ESCAPE TO THE TOWN AND COUNTRY
If you think you’ll be in need of a late summer escape, you can enjoy it in the town and in the countryside with a rather tempting partnership deal between the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge and Cotswolds country house retreat Cowley Manor (pictured above). The package allows you a night in the city at the Berkeley during a weekend, where the pool-side terrace has been transformed into an English country garden for the summer – and a night in the country at Cowley Manor during the week. It comes with some serious pampering too, including a facial at the Berkeley and a one hour treatment of your choice at Cowley Manor’s beautiful spa. From £1,150 based on two sharing.

LLAMA TREKKING OR GOLF IN THE ALPS
If burning rubber in the Alps isn’t your thing [see main article], how about llama trekking or heli golfing? These are on offer until 25 September at the indisputably gorgeous boutique Hotel Aurelio in Lech, Austria. The hotel arranges trekking tours across 350km of local hiking trails, with llamas carrying everything needed for an exclusive picnic in the Alpine meadows. For golfers, the hotel will organise a helicopter to the most beautiful courses in the region. After all that activity, there are the swell luxuries of the 19-room hotel and its uber-smart spa to kick back in. The hotel closes on September 25 before re-opening for the ski season. Rooms from £242 per person (summer rates). For more information, visit www.aureliolech.com.
