Plane Food’s healthy picnics
Now the health-conscious jet-set can make sure they stay well fuelled on board. Stuart Gillies at Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food in Heathrow’s Terminal Five has created a picnic menu called Plane Beautiful that uses nutrient-loaded ingredients thought to “bring out beauty from within while airborne” – think lots of Omega-3 and Vitamin B. Dishes include seared loin of yellow fin tuna with fennel salad and slow-baked Hampshire beetroot with fresh goats curd. Picnics are £14.95. www.gordonramsay.com/planefood.

Easter festivities at Gleneagles
Come Easter at The Gleneagles, children and the young at heart will be delighted to find that they have stepped into Wonderland. Inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party will include themed cakes and White Rabbit croquet on the lawn. Fishing, off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, horseback riding and golf lessons are also available. Tea party is 11 April, tickets £10, call 01764 694337. Rooms from £350 during Easter weekend (2-3 April). Call 017 646 62231 or visit www.gleneagles.com.

France made easy
Eliminate the stress of researching, booking and preparing for a long journey with a nifty little comparison site called Gitecompare.com. Listing every type of accommodation on offer in France, the website has covers everything from campsites to tourist attractions to restaurants to gites. You can also compare and book insurance, money and car hire, as well as read reviews and ratings on a range of attractions. If it can be booked in advance, Gitecompare can help. www.gitecompare.com.
